This blood test checks for the presence of food allergies. The body produces antibodies in response to an allergy. When we eat food that we are allergic to, our immune cells produce antibodies, which are like little torpedoes, to destroy the invading substance. Yes, there are certain foods that people eat everyday that may actually be seen by the body as invaders. Instead of these foods giving the person energy (the ultimate purpose of food), the foods actually take energy away from the body (See figure 1.)
