Eating the Right Otter Breakfast

There could be a few different reasons why your Hauser Diet Typing revealed Otter physiology. One of those reasons may have to do with your blood sugars. It is extremely important for Hauser Otters to keep blood sugars steady in order to keep your energy and overall health in check. The best way to get this going in the right direction is to start out with a hearty breakfast. For you, it may very well be the most important meal of the day.

Loading up on carbs in the morning, which are usually the quick on-the-go foods a lot of people tend to grab, will not give you what you need. Otters metabolize carbs too quickly, especially with their hypoglycemia tendencies! Otters need protein at every meal.

Hearty

Eggs are a great breakfast food for Otters. Add some ham, a little of your favorite cheese, and some chopped veggies to make an awesome omelet. Hard boil some eggs ahead of time and you have an easy grab-and-go meal if you have to.

Steak and Eggs

Heat some steak in a little olive oil, or use what’s left from dinner last night then make a couple of over easy eggs. Put your seasoning of choice on the steak and you have an Otter meal at its best.

Options for Food Allergies

Some of you may have food allergies that really limit your breakfast choices. This is where leftovers come in handy. Having chicken or steak is just as good in the morning as they are at night. Try taking a corn tortilla and wrapping it around strips of steak with a bit of cheese. Or make half of a gluten free English muffin with nut butter and a couple slices of bacon or chicken sausage on the side. You are allowed some carbs, so using it at breakfast will help open your options up especially if food allergies have limited them.

Otter Style Protein Shake

Most people think of fruity smoothies as good choices for breakfast. However, the Otter is a very limited fruit diet, so we need to rethink this concept. Your morning shake/smoothie should contain nearly all protein and fat. Use a couple scoops of your protein powder of choice (whey, soy, rice, egg, etc.), 8 oz of your milk of choice, a couple tablespoons of nut butter, and then try a little flaxseed and/or Coconut Oil. It many not contain any fruit, but the nut butter and oils will add the flavor you need that is missing by not having the fruit. A dash of vanilla or almond extract with a sprinkle of cinnamon can change it up a little too.
