Backyard BBQ Tips for the Hauser Lion and Otter Diet Types

10 Tips for Following Your Diet at the Backyard BBQ:

1. Eat Meat! Fill your plate with foods such as chicken, fish, hamburger, or steak.

2. Drop the buns! Nothing else to say here – no bread for Lions and Otters!

3. Go green! If you are not the host of the BBQ, tell the host that you will bring a fresh green salad or some roasted vegetables. This way, you can know that you will be getting some good veggies to accompany your meat. Check out Chapter 9 of the Hauser Diet book for some great salad and veggie recipes!

4. Snack on nuts! Avoid chips, pretzels, and tortillas and snack on higher fat foods such as nuts and seeds.

5. Dump the packaged dips and choose hummus or guacamole: Loaded with nutrients and good fats, Lions can feel good about choosing Lion-healthy dips like these scooped up with some fresh vegetables such as celery, pepper slices, or cucumbers.

6. Drink water or iced tea. Avoid the beer and wine and other alcoholic drinks. Lions will be regretting it in the morning! For more than one reason!

7. Pass on the pasta and potato salad and reach for the vegetables.

8. Be a devil! Have some deviled eggs and don’t feel guilty about it! These are a great choice.

9. Relish the little things! Black or green, olives are a great snack food. Grab a kosher dill and you’ll be all set.

10. Get up out of your lawn chair! Play a little Frisbee, baseball, or croquet. Get those digestive juices flowing!
