Managing Cholesterol On The Lion Diet
Are you worried about cholesterol? Have you just been told that you are a Lion and need to load up on red meat, eggs, chicken, nuts, seeds, and oils? Are you secretly thinking to yourself, “My cholesterol is going to go off the charts if I eat like that?”
If you are on the Hauser Lion Diet, you need to think of why that is. Remember that we did blood tests to determine what kind of foods your body utilizes best. The tests we used, Blood pH test and the Glucose Tolerance Test, tell us the foods that your body can process the best. When we put people on the Lion Diet, it’s because their bodies are efficient at processing fats and proteins. Since foods that have higher fat contents are the same foods that contain cholesterol, it’s the same thing as saying that your body knows how to process cholesterol from food!
Heart patients that come in and are placed on the Lion Diet tell us that they can’t eat eggs or red meat because of the cholesterol. Based on your blood work, this is not true. There is a lot of hype in the modern medicine world about how taking in too much dietary fat and cholesterol can significantly raise a person’s chance of having high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and, in the end, heart disease. Everyone’s internal systems are different. Yes, the structures of our body’s are very similar, but we all function very differently.
With this in mind, how is it that what affects one person negatively could affect everyone else the same way? It can’t! What works for one person may not work for the next. You can actually safely eat those foods without increasing your risk of heart problems. The actual percentage of total blood cholesterol that comes from food is very small. As long as you are balancing out your diet with some good healthy fats and getting enough fiber you should be fine. Our recommendation is that you try it for one month and then get your cholesterol tested to see what effect, if any, this high protein/fat diet has had! We predict that you will see a drop in your cholesterol level, not an increase! Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
What if you are a vegetarian? Did you come in to see us having been eating as a vegetarian and then we put you on the Lion Diet? Think about this. Was your cholesterol a problem before you came to Caring Medical? If so, then a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol and high in carbohydrates was not doing the trick. This means it is time to try something new. You may be surprised at the results!
If you’re still worried about fat content of food, that doesn’t mean you can’t follow the Lion Diet. Eat leaner cuts of protein if it makes you feel more comfortable, and focus on good healthy fats. The Lion Diet does not require eggs and beef to be part of your daily eating plan, so do what puts you at ease.
