Choose Joy

Choose joyDon’t we all want to experience a stress-free, healthy, happy holiday season? Unfortunately, most people put far too much pressure on themselves during the holiday season to go-go-go and do-do-do! Right?

The pressures (often self-induced) of the holiday season can wear you down physically and emotionally, leading to illness, and sometimes even depression. This obviously does not do the body any good.

Really, perspective is everything.

Many of us feel obligated to bake 12 kinds of Christmas cookies, attend every party or event, buy the perfect present for every friend/relative, send out a wonderfully worded Christmas letter and photo collage, and of course, decorate your home in a stunning display of lights, trees, and other magnificence!

We want to encourage you this Christmas not to forget the reason for the season and why we celebrate it. Jesus was born as a human baby on Christmas, and we celebrate this because knowing Him gives us life, joy, and peace.

However, if our lives are frantic and crazy during the time we should be reflective, positive, loving, kind, and joyful, we are not living hope-giving, life-giving lives.

We have learned over the years that less is more – especially during the holidays. Reduce the stress of the holidays by simplifying your to-do list and work on making sure you take time for reflection and meaningful moments spent with family and friends. We encourage you not to let the world change you.

Be that light. Be that joy. Be that hope.

Blessings from the Dr. and the Dietitian,

Dr. Hauser and Marion
