Dear friends,
What if Blessings Come Through Raindrops? What if Your healing comes through tears?
This song by Laura Story meant a lot to us after our Florida home burned to the ground due to some work being done on the home by contractors. Now we are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian and are again rebuilding, although not to the same extent.
Our insurance broker said to us after Ian, “Are you sure you want to live there? That property has not really been good to you?!”
Our answer was, “yes.”
However, we can understand how many people might think “move the heck out of dodge!” And many people have. Our town is devastated and looks like a war zone.
However, the difference for us is that we feel called to live and work here in SW FL.
We are passionate about our work – it’s a ministry.
When the original home burned down, Marion could not stop crying for about 4 days.
A dream seemingly shattered. Hopes halted. Massive expenses looming. Fire investigation ensued.
Yet, we were able to dig out of that pit of sorrow and find HOPE. And we are doing it again.
It is not easy – nor without struggles, frustrations, and burdens.
Yet, God is faithful.
We do not know the plan He has for us. Through trials come many blessings. We could fill pages with them! We would definitely not be living here in SW FL if we had not gone through the fire…
So we leave you with the lyrics to this song by Laura Story – so that you may be encouraged during the battle that you may be facing:
We pray for blessings, we pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand
To ease our suffering
And all the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things
“Cause what if Your blessing come through raindrops?
What if Your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near?
And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?
We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear
And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from your word is not enough
And all the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we’d have faith to believe
‘Cause what if your blessing come through raindrops?
What if Your healing comes through tears?
And what if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near?
And what if trials of this life
Are Your mercies in disguise?
When friends betray us
And when darkness seems to win, we know
The pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
(Chorus repeats)
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst
This world cannot satisfy?
And what if the trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise?
